Brief Background
The phasianidae family belongs to the Galliformes order, which includes many species that are known, hunted or even domesticated by humans.
It belongs also to this order: the megapods of Australia and the neighboring regions, the hoccos (the curassows) of South America and their close cousins, the grouse, lagopus, guinea fowl, turkeys and the hoatzin living in the tropical forests of South America.
